Selling Tips

Runway Junkie caters to a high-end clientele and focuses on legitimate new and gently used designer goods. Please review the list of designer brands you can sell and our conditions guidelines to ensure your items are right for our clients.

Because Runway Junkie is not an auction site, you get to decide the price of your items. Listings are active for fifteen (15) days unless your item sells beforehand. Once it sells, please go to My Account and click, "I sold it" to remove your listing. If your item doesn’t sell within that time, you can choose to re-list and can edit your listing details. 

Our policies are designed to create a safe and fair environment for all members of Runway Junkie. Here are some helpful hints so you can avoid unintentionally breaking the rules and how we can all contribute to the community of reliable, trustworthy members of Runway Junkie.

How do I get started?

Selling your designer items is very easy. Just register for a free account, complete your listing and voila, you’re in business!

Step 1:  Pictures.
Take up to four pictures of your authentic designer items. You must upload at least one (1) picture of your item but your chances of selling an item are increased when you have four (4) quality pictures. Make sure the picture size is under 1 mb. If you need to resize the image, Picnik is a great tool.

Step 2: List.
Complete the form on our sell page with your listing details. Review your item listing and continue to checkout to finalize the listing.

Runway Junkie charges a low listing fee to create your listing. This helps us contribute to the non-profit organizations we are so dedicated to supporting.

Step 3: Sell.
Your listing is now visible to our niche audience of buyers ready to purchase women’s designer clothing and accessories. Buyers will contact you directly and the rest is up to you.

What can I sell on Runway Junkie?

Runway Junkie only allows users to list authentic designer merchandise for sale. These items must be owned by, and in the possession of, the person listing merchandise for sale. 

Users are solely responsible for complying with all applicable laws, regulations or restrictions on items listed for sale, the manner of sale and payment or exchange, that may apply to any and all transactions in which they participate.  Please refer to our User Agreement for legal details.

Does Runway Junkie facilitate payment or make shipping arrangements between the buyer and the seller?

No. Shipping and payment details are entirely up to the buyer and seller for each transaction. Runway Junkie is not involved in any transaction.

For arranging payments, PayPal and Google Checkout are recommended. Remember, it is not safe to give out financial information (bank account number, social security number, PayPal info, etc.) or to send wire transfers, money orders or cashier's checks.

The majority of users on Runway Junkie are well-intentioned but it is important to remember to take the necessary common sense precautions on our site as you would offline. Find out more about our policies and what safety precautions you can take.

How do I set my prices?

As the seller, you decide what your prices will be. The price you determine does not include shipping so keep in mind that you need to negotiate this with the buyer beforehand. See below for shipping guidelines.

Here are a few tips to help you determine the best pricing practices:

  • Ask yourself, would I pay this amount for this now?
  • For worn items, we recommend a 50% deduction from the retail price.
  • For new items, 25% off the retail price is a good idea.
  • For an item that is over 2 years new, 60% off the original retail price is reasonable.

How does shipping work?

Shipping methods and costs are determined between the Buyer and Seller of the item.
When listing an item for sale, the Seller has two (2) shipping method options to choose from:
1. to ship via USPS Flat Rate Priority Mail
2. to negotiate the method with the Buyer (this includes FedEx, UPS and DHL)

We encourage our members to use USPS Flat Rate Priority Mail but understand when there may be a need to overnight an item - need those shoes for Friday's party?!

USPS offers free boxes in three (3) sizes perfect for most items sold on Runway Junkie*:

Runway Junkie is a U.S.based company and does not permit international transactions.

What if I forget my password?

In the login area click on the link entitled, “forgot password?” and enter your email address and your password will be emailed to you.

Can I edit my listings after they're posted online?

Yes. If you want to change the information in your listings or upload new photos, simply log in and go to My Account. Then click on “My Listings” to view all of your listings. From here, you can click on the listing title to edit it.

The Action tab allows you to view your listing, remove it and mark it as sold.

Also, under the Action tab, you can you can also click on “view listing” then click ‘edit listing’ on your product’s listing page.

If your listing expires before it is sold, you can choose to re-list your item for sale and have the option to edit the details, images and sale price.

How many images can I upload?

You can upload four (4) images per listing.

Is there a recommended format for images?

We recommend JPEG, GIF and PNG file formats under one (1) megabyte.

How long will my item be listed?

Your item will be listed for fifteen (15) days before it will expire. This provides plenty of time for your buyers to find and purchase your items.

And remember, you can always adjust and re-list your item if it does not sell within that time. Learn tips on how to become a great seller below.

How do I remove my listing after an item is sold?

Simply go to My Account when you are logged in and click on “My Listings” to view all of your listings. Under Actions, click “I sold it”.

Do you protect my email address?

Yes. Your privacy is extremely important to us. We dot sell or rent your email address or registration information to anyone. When buyers contact you, they do so through our private messaging system on the RunwayJunkie.com site. Read our Privacy Policy for more details.

Safety Precautions

The overwhelming majority of Runway Junkie members are legitimate and well-intentioned. Your safety is important to us and would like you to have only the best experiences selling on RunwayJunkie.com.  When dealing with a buyer, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Don't accept wire transfers, money orders or cashier's checks, Western Union, Money Gram, cashier's check, money order, escrow service, or a "guarantee" of payment. Use only online payment programs such as PayPal or Google Checkout.
  • Don't accept payment in excess of your purchase price.

Beware if the buyer:

  • Is eager to buy immediately without asking any questions about the item
  • Uses poor spelling and grammar
  • Wants to pay via wire transfer, money order or cashier's check, and use a third party shipper.
    Refuses or is unable to use a trusted payment system such as PayPal or Google Checkout.
  • Requests you to ship to another country or does not have a legitimate U.S.address. Runway Junkie is only intended for use in the United States.

Please contact us if you encounter a buyer who seem suspicious—do not reply or agree to sell anything to them.

Be the best seller you can be:

If you’re a legitimate seller, then you will have no problem providing buyers with the following information about the item:

  • Using PayPal or Google Checkout to receive payment.
  • Shipping the item within two (2) business days and let the buyer know when it was shipped.
  • Show proof of authenticity for item.

You should be able to answer questions about the item, such as:

  • When did you acquire the item, and did you buy it new or used?
  • Is there proof that the item is authentic?
  • Are there any problems or imperfections with the item?
  • Has the item been altered in any way?

Also, you should also know the following about the buyer in order to ship the item:

  • Name
  • Steet address
  • Username on Runway Junkie – you can start by taking a look at their profile.
